As a kid, I had supreme confidence in myself like most people did. However, as I got older and started to be influenced by what I saw on TV and heard on the radio, I became spiritually bankrupt.
For years, my confidence was well below sea level. I didn’t believe in myself at all. Granted, I felt confident to do the basics – for example, my school work. But when it came to approaching people and talking to them, starting my own business, and telling my family members how I truly felt, when push came to shove, I could never muster up the confidence to do so.
If you’re reading this, I’m pretty sure you can relate to this. So let me show you what I did to redevelop a supreme confidence in myself that has allowed me to live a happier and fulfilling lifestyle.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use my system. All you need to do is be willing to make the necessary changes and stick with it.
So, what did I do?
For 21 days straight, I read the story of David and Goliath from the book of 1 Samuel, chapter 17.
There isn’t a word in the dictionary that I can use that truly expresses the impact this short story has had on increasing my confidence level. And if you stick with it, I’m confident you’ll find yourself at a lost for words to.
Although I have redeveloped a supreme confidence in myself, I still continue to read the story of David and Goliath everyday. And the days that I miss reading that story, I feel it deep down in my soul.
Outside of being a great story of courage and valor, it’s also very therapeutic.
Whenever I’m feeling down and out, and stuck in a rut I imagine my problem being the Philistine Goliath, and me as David. This helps me put my situation into perspective and allows me to positively think my way through it. And I know it can help you do the same.
To get started, do yourself a favor and make time to read the story of David and Goliath once in the morning and once at night. And if throughout the day you begin feeling your confidence levels declining, go to a quiet place and read the story again. Put yourself in David shoes, and put your problem in Goliath’s shoes, and have the faith David had that God will bring your through it and help you succeed.
